Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) has scheduled the committee’s fourth hearing on comprehensive immigration reform for next Wednesday, April 17, Leahy announced Wednesday.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is scheduled to testify, along with other witnesses to be announced soon.
Several Republicans including Marco Rubio (R-FL) have worried openly that Leahy will rush the bill through his committee and have called for a slow approach on immigration reform. Last week, Leahy promised “swift and thorough” action on the issue.
