“The Nightly Show” host Larry Wilmore took time out of regularly scheduled programming on Wednesday night to wag his finger at Starbucks for its new initiative encouraging baristas to discuss racial issues with customers.

“When you order Starbucks, how do you like it?” he asked. “Grande, vente? Double shot of awkward conversation?”

Larry Wilmore took the company to task for moving in on “talking about race,” which, he pointed out, his show’s territory.

The host broke out a Keurig machine and began brewing a cup on air, hoping to cut into Starbucks’ monopoly on coffee and inter-racial dialogue.

“Do we really expect some poor barista to handle a conversation on racial politics? That’s a lot of pressure!” he pointed out. “I mean who are they gonna get, Cornel West?”
