After news that the Justice Department indicted FIFA officials for widespread corruption, Larry Wilmore was unprepared to dedicate so much of his show to covering “foot hockey.”

“The United State asks some hard questions to FIFA, the organization behind the World Cup,” the host of “The Nightly Show” said on Thursday. “Questions like, what’s a World Cup?”

Wilmore noted that the organization had long been suspected of awarding the host of the World Cup to the highest bidder, such as Qatar, a country notorious for human rights violations.

“Yeah human rights violations like forcing people to play soccer in Qatar,” he said. “The average temperature is 350 degrees — good lord, FIFA, what was your second choice, in an oven roasting a chicken?”
