Larry Wilmore wants to know if Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who is 74, would be open to a “Weekend At Bernie’s” situation to get through his presidency during an interview Monday on “The Nightly Show.”

On a new segment called “Tyler Perry Presents Lee Daniels’ Soul Food Sit-Down With Larry Wilmore, Based on the novel ‘Pull’ by Sapphire, Featuring Sen. Bernie Sanders,” Wilmore floated the idea of following the 1989 movie.

In the movie, two friends attempt to convince people their dead boss — who ordered their deaths — is still alive by putting dark sunglasses on his corpse.

“Would you be comfortable with let’s say a ‘Weekend At Bernie’s’ situation to get us through the rest of the administration?” Wilmore said, giving Sanders a pair of dark sunglasses. “Could you just put these sunglasses on, in case we have to do that ‘Weekend At Bernie’s’ thing?”
