A reporter from television station KDFW was shooed away from the scene in Nocona, Texas where a police officer had shot and killed a local sheriff’s deputy on Monday, according to raw footage posted to the television station’s website.

Sheriff’s deputy Larry Hostetter was shot and killed in his house on Monday by a Nocona police officer who was reportedly responding to some type of domestic disturbance call, KDFW reported.

When KDFW reporter Saul Garza attempted to film a live shot in front of the victim’s home, deputies forced him to back up and move away from the property.

Details of the shooting largely remained a mystery on Tuesday, including the name of the officer who opened fire. Television station KFDX reported that the officer had been placed on administrative leave, but otherwise no new information had emerged since the initial Monday morning press conference about the killing.

Authorities said during the initial press conference that the Texas Rangers would be handling the investigation. On Tuesday, TPM called the agency’s headquarters, where a spokeswoman said she was unsure whether the Rangers were even investigating the matter. She referred TPM to a sergeant. That sergeant told TPM the investigation was being handled by a different sergeant in another part of the state.

TPM left a message with the second sergeant but had not received an immediate response.
