Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Cmdr. Andrew Smith said Tuesday night that reports a body was found in the burned-down cabin near Big Bear, Calif., were false.

“No body has been identified and no body has been located,” Smith said during a news conference, providing updates on the stand-off with a man suspected of being fugitive ex-cop Christopher Dorner.

Smith said the cabin was too hot for investigators to even enter it yet. Multiple news outlets had reported that a body had been recovered in the cabin.
