Democratic Reps. Dennis Kucinich and Marcy Kaptur, who were forced into a primary against one another as a result of redistricting, met this week in Cleveland for a heated debate.

The Plain Dealer reports:

Playfully referring to Kaptur as “my friend,” Kucinich also criticized her support of defense spending and acceptance of campaign contributions from “war contractors.”

“If the corrupt system in Washington can ensnare this fine lady, there aren’t too many people who can take it on,” Kucinich said.

Kaptur, meanwhile, criticized Kucinich as being unable to get anything accomplished: “You can take on the status quo, but who really makes a difference in the end with actual bills that get passed?”

The primary is on the March 6 Super Tuesday. The winner will then run in the deep-blue district against the Republican nominee — who is likely to be none other than the famed conservative activist “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher.
