Kickstarter: Expect Delays

Kickstarter co-founder Yancey Strickler took to the company’s official blog on Tuesday to defend a general tendency of some highly-funded projects on the crowdfunding website to fail on their donor reward delivery or completion deadlines.

“Kickstarter projects are great at a lot of things, but meeting deadlines isn’t one of them,” Stricker begins, later adding: “Sure, it’s unacceptable for a store to ship something late. But Kickstarter is not a store. The Estimated Delivery Date is the creator’s best guess at how things will go, and it’s made at a very early stage in the project’s life.”

The pushback comes amid days after backers of one educational video game project on Kickstarer began openly considering launching legal action against its creators, after the project was repeatedly delayed and its backers went silent.
