A restaurant owner in Port Allen, La. has been awarding a 10 percent discount to gun-toting customers in recent weeks.

“I just need to see a weapon. I need you to be carrying a gun,” Kevin Cox, the owner of Bergeron’s Restaurant, told local TV station WVLA on Thursday. “And as long as everybody has a gun we’re all the same size.”

Cox told the news station that he originally implemented the discount to thank law enforcement officers and later applied it to all customers who carried a gun into Bergeron’s Restaurant.

“I keep hearing so much about people banning guns,” he told WVLA. “Target’s banning guns and these people are banning guns. Don’t they realize that that’s where people with guns are going to go? I want to take the opposite approach. How can I make my place safer?”

Cox estimated that he gives out 15 to 20 discounts each day.
