Katrina Pierson, a spokeswoman for Donald Trump, on Sunday brushed off questions about a 2012 tweet in which she suggested that President Obama and Mitt Romney were not “pure breeds.”

On Sunday, CNN’s Brian Stelter asked Pierson, “Do you regret that? Would you like to retract that?”

“No, not at all,” she responded. “Look, these tweets — I’m an activist, and I am a half-breed. I’m always getting called a half-breed. And on Twitter, when you’re fighting with liberals and even establishment, you go back at them in the same silliness they’re giving you.”

“You’re telling me that was just silliness?” Stelter asked in response.

“Absolutely,” Pierson replied.
