Mike Wallace, one of the original hosts and correspondents of CBS’s “60 Minutes,” has died. CBS’s Bob Schieffer reported on Face the Nation Sunday morning that he died around 8pm Saturday night. He was 93 years old.

From the New York Times:

As one of the original correspondents and hosts of “60 Minutes,” Mr. Wallace helped to establish the newsmagazine format on television. He was perhaps best known for ambush interviews of crooks and cheats. Mr. Wallace “invented a new paradigm for television news, creating a signature technique that would become a standard in the industry,” the biographer Peter Rader writes in a new book, “Mike Wallace: A Life.”
