Republican Senate candidate Josh Mandel, who’s challenging incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown in Ohio, is up with his first ad Wednesday. Mandel’s first ad introduces him to voters. Called “Boots,” the positive spot touts Mandel’s background as a Marine who served two tours of duty in Iraq, as well as his dedication to the middle class.

Mandel served in the Ohio state Legislature and in 2010 was elected state treasurer. He recently received the support of Gov. Chris Christie and Sen. John McCain.

The Mandel campaign says the spot will run across the state for an extended period of time on both broadcast and cable TV.

“Voters across Ohio will be reintroduced to Josh with this ad highlighting his personal and professional experiences that have shaped him into a dynamic leader who can change Washington,” communications director Travis Considine said in a statement.

The Brown campaign was ready with a response, saying that due to negative press, “it’s no surprise that Mandel is forced to go on air in an effort to distract from the fact that he’s not doing his job, can’t be trusted, and has spent the last year pushing an anti-middle-class agenda.”
