Departing the “The Daily Show” in a matter of weeks, Jon Stewart almost called it quits early on Wednesday night.
Stewart learned that his favorite GOP candidate, real-estate mogul Donald Trump, had not filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) despite his announcement that he was running for President.
“If Trump’s not running then these last shows, they’re gonna be nothing but a hot cup of sandness,” he said. “Shut it down boys, we’re closing early.”
The audience booed and pleaded as Stewart donned a fedora and a trenchcoat, the lights of the studio cutting off.
“Goodbye America, it’s been great,” he said, almost disppearing into the shadows.
“No wait!” Stewart said, as a clip of Trump declaring he had formally filed echoed throughout the studio. “Could it be?”
“As of today, I’m filed,” Trump said, as a host of clips confirmed his official entry.
“We’re back!”
