Jon Stewart on Monday joined Texas conservatives in dining on a slice of “hate cake” in celebration of the state’s longstanding ban on gay marriage.

Surveying the backlash against recent court rulings striking down gay marriage bans, the host of “The Daily Show” looked at reactions in states like Alabama, Oklahoma and the Lone Star state.

The Oklahoma House of Representatives, for instance, approved a new marraige reform bill that replaces state-issued marriage licenses with clergy-issued marriage certificates.

“So Oklahoma wants to replace a civil institution with a religious one,” Stewart said quietly.

“Which is…Sharia Law,” the host whispered to laughs.

But Stewart had to hand it to Texas: During “Faith and Family Day” at the state capitol, conservative leaders recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of the state’s gay marraige ban by baking and sharing an actual cake.

“Mmm, this is the best hate-cake I ever had,” Stewart said, cradling his own slice back in the studio.

“Tastes like moldy Bibles and the tears of the decent!” he added.
