In an appearance Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” New Jersey Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D) criticized a newly-released report clearing Gov. Chris Christie in the George Washington Bridge scandal.

“This report really rushes a judgement that is too early to make,” Wisniewski said.

Wisniewski is the co-chair of the legislative committee that has been looking into the closing of access lanes on the George Washington Bridge in September. The closures caused a massive traffic jam in Fort Lee, N.J., and former allies and aides of Christie’s have been tied to the plot. But a report released last week by a legal team representing Christie’s office pinned the blame for the plan on Bridget Kelly, the governor’s former deputy chief of staff, and David Wildstein, a former Port Authority of New York and New Jersey executive.

Wisniewski appeared on “This Week” just before Randy Mastro, the defense attorney who led the internal investigation for Christie’s office. Wisniewski pointed out that Mastro’s team did not get to speak to some of the key players in the scandal, including Kelly and Wildstein. Both former officials have also declined to cooperate with Wisniewski’s committee. Wisniewski acknowledged that his committee has not found any evidence tying Christie directly to the closures, but he said “we’re not finished.

“It’s far too early to start concluding that the governor knew nothing, had nothing to do with this,” he said.
