U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has agreed to testify before the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee on the Benghazi attacks of 2012, a State Department official told TPM on Friday.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Kerry agreed to testify on June 12 or June 20, adding that his appearance “will eliminate any need” for him to appear a second time before the House select committee on Benghazi.

Early this month, House Oversight Chair Darrell Issa (R-CA) issued a subpoena for Kerry to testify on the issue.
