Vice President Joe Biden — still — doesn’t have plans to attend the first Democratic presidential debate being hosted by CNN on Tuesday night.

The news channel had left the door open for Biden to join the debate in Las Vegas if he declares his candidacy today.

But the vice president’s office may have thrown cold water on CNN’s hopes for added drama with a tweet on Tuesday noting he plans to meet with with the President and attorney general at the White House this afternoon.

“People close to him” have already said he would not participate in the debate. Still, CNN’s hopes may not be completely extinguished. The debate is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. ET, which technically could leave enough time for him to make it to Vegas after the Oval Office meeting.
