CHARLOTTE — Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, spoke to a crowd of women at the Democratic Women’s Caucus meeting here Thursday.

In brief remarks, Biden echoed Obama campaign messaging that the 2012 election is a battle to protect the gains in rights and equal pay for women over the past several decades.

“We can’t go back and fight the same battles we’ve fought,” Biden said. She said some of the fights over women’s rights today remind her of battles from the 1960s.

Biden’s husband will address the Democratic National Convention tonight in primetime ahead of the president.
