Former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL) pleaded guilty on Wednesday to federal charges stemming from his misuse of hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign funds, according to The Chicago Tribune.
Jackson appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia just days after prosecutors filed charges against him, which included conspiracy, false statement, mail fraud, and wire fraud.
Jackson’s wife, former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson, is scheduled to appear in court later Wednesday, and expected to plead guilty to one count of filing false tax returns.
