Hillary Clinton supporter and former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D) was surprised Tuesday (to say the least) to hear of rapper T.I.’s comments that he didn’t think a woman should be President.

“Whaaaat?!” Granholm said when an MSNBC host told her T.I.’s comment. “Are you kidding me?”

T.I. (a.k.a Clifford Joseph Harris Jr.) said Saturday that he would not vote for Clinton because women, “make rash decisions emotionally.” He later apologized for his comments and said they were insensitive and wrong.

The MSNBC host asked Granholm if she thought people might not vote for Clinton because she’s a woman.

“There is still sexism in this country,” Granholm said. “I think there’s no doubt about it. And there will be people who don’t vote for her because she is a woman and shame on us as a nation that we have not progressed far enough so everybody can be treated as being competent regardless of their plumbing.”

Grahnholm is a senior advisor at Correct the Record, a pro-Clinton group founded by Clinton ally David Brock to defend her throughout her presidential bid.

“So truly that is a shame and I’m so sorry to hear that,” Granholm said.
