Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald has his first TV ad in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate — which is coming in less than two weeks. The ad heavily touts his work with Gov. Scott Walker to pass the legislation that rolled back collective bargaining for public employees, and replays footage of the massive protests against the bill in the state Capitol, and another small protest that occurred outside Fitzgerald’s home.

Video of Fitzgerald at a rally is also shown: “We passed a piece of legislation that will reform the state of Wisconsin for a generation…we balanced a $3.6 billion deficit, without raising taxes.” For the final disclaimer in the spot, of Fitzgerald identifying himself and approving the ad, a photo is shown of Fitzgerald and Walker shaking hands in the Assembly chamber.

The PollTracker Average currently shows Fitzgerald lagging in fourth place in the primary: Businessman Eric Hovde 27.7 percent, former Gov. Tommy Thompson 27.3 percent, former Rep. Mark Neumann 20.8 percent, and Fitzgerald 11.2 percent. The other candidates, especially Hovde, have had a much greater TV presence.
