Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush told a group of reporters gathered at the Bloomberg headquarters Monday that his father, President George W. Bush, and President Ronald Reagan would have struggled to get nominated in today’s Republican, according to BuzzFeed. “[T]hey would have a hard time if you define the Republican Party — and I don’t — as having an orthodoxy that doesn’t allow for disagreement, doesn’t allow for finding some common ground,” Bush said to a group of reporters at Bloomberg LP headquarters in New York.
Bush praised the work Reagan and his father did on a bipartisan basis.”Back to my dad’s time and Ronald Reagan’s time – they got a lot of stuff done with a lot of bipartisan support,” he said. Reagan “would be criticized for doing the things that he did.”
