According to Fox News, former Florida Governor (and great white hope of Republican pundits longing for a brokered convention) Jeb Bush, told a Dallas audience on Thursday that he found the overall tone being put across by the current GOP candidates “a little troubling.”
“I used to be a conservative and I watch these debates and I’m wondering, I don’t think I’ve changed, but it’s a little troubling sometimes when people are appealing to people’s fears and emotion rather than trying to get them to look over the horizon for a broader perspective and that’s kind of where we are,” said the former Florida Governor. “I think it changes when we get to the general election. I hope.”
Pressed on these comments by the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza, he said, “I am a conservative and I think we should be offering a compelling, optimistic vision and plan to deal with our structural problems as a nation.”
