Donald Trump found himself in hostile territory early on in Saturday night’s Republican presidential debate, with the crowd continuously booing his foreign policy plans as they cheered on former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

After Bush said he would champion a containment strategy with Iran as a cornerstone of his foreign policy strategy, Trump fired back: “Jeb is so wrong.”

The billionaire was responding to a follow up question after he was mentioned, when he was asked about his earlier remarks that he would get along well with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Call me a genius. I like him so far. Let me just tell you this. Jeb is so wrong,” Trump responded. The crowd immediately started booing.

He tried to clarify: “Just so you understand, you know what that is? That’s Jeb’s special interests and lobbyists talking. Look, let me just tell you something –” Trump was cut off by more booing from the audience, and looked taken aback by the negative response.

“Jeb is so wrong. You’ve got to fight ISIS first. You fight ISIS first. Right now, you have Russia. You have Iran. You have them with Assad and you have them with Syria,” he continued. “They’re chopping off heads. These are animals. You have to knock them out.”

Trump went on to say “you can’t fight two wars at one time,” and said that strategy has led the U.S. to spending $5 trillion for 15 years of war in the Middle East.

Given the chance to respond, Bush said the “very basic fact” is that Putin is not going to be an ally to the U.S.

“The whole world knows this. It’s a simple basic fact. They’re not even attempting to take out ISIS,” he said.

Trump interrupted: “We’re supporting troops that we don’t even know who they are.”

“Let me finish, this is ridiculous,” Bush responded.

CBS News moderator John Dickerson attempted to intervene, but Bush talked over him to deliver another blow to Trump.

“This comes from a guy who gets his foreign policies from the show. It this is a guy who thinks Hillary Clinton was a great negotiator in Iran,” he said.

But Trump wasn’t having it, and said: “This is a man who spent $44 million in New Hampshire. Give me a break.” Bush finished fourth place in the state’s primary.

“This is a man who insults his way to the nomination,” Bush fired back.

Dickerson finally ended the back-and-forth, and said, “Let’s leave it there so I can ask a question of senator Cruz, who is also running for President.”
