James Murdoch on Tuesday asserted again that he was kept in the dark about News Corporation’s phone hacking practices. Appearing before a UK judicial inquiry into press practices, Murdoch placed the blame on the News of the World editors. “I wasn’t in the business of deciding what to put into the newspaper,” Murdoch said, according to the New York Times. “The newsroom governance was very much in the hands of the editor.”

Murdoch also said that if he was informed of the phone hacking practices, he would have “cut out the cancer, and there was some desire not to do that.”
