A District of Columbia medical examiner has ruled the death of former White House press secretary James Brady a homicide, NBC Washington reported.
The examiner said that Brady, who served as press secretary under Ronald Reagan, died as a result of the injuries he suffered when he was shot in the head by John Hinckley Jr. in 1981. Brady went on to become a fierce advocate for gun control after the shooting.
The decision carries legal implications, potentially paving the way for Hinckley to be tried for murder in federal court.
