A government watchdog has criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his handling of an Israeli raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla. Nine Turks, including one Turkish-American, were killed on May 31, 2010 when Israeli commandos intercepted the Mavi Marmara, a Turkish ship carrying 600 passengers. The 153-page report pointed to “significant shortcomings” in the Prime Minister’s decision making.

“The process of decision-making was done without orderly, agreed-upon, coordinated and documented staff work, despite the recognition of the senior political echelon and (Israeli army) chiefs, intelligence bodies and the National Security Council on the different nature of the Turkish flotilla compared to previous flotillas,” it said.
