Tehran has announced that it will begin a three-day series of war games this week, an assertive response to the beginning of the EU’s wholesale sanctions on Sunday. The war games, nicknamed the Great Prophet 7, will see missiles fired across Iran at 100 predetermined targets located within north-central Iran. Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said unmanned aircraft will also carry out certain operations during the exercises.

Responding to the oil embargo, Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Ghasemi said that EU imports accounted for only 18 percent of Iran’s production. “The sanctions have had no effect on Iran and will have none,” Ghasemi told the Iranian Students News Agency.
