Iowa Republican Senate candidate Mark Jacobs, who received attention for an interview in which he said the best way to connect with women voters was on an “emotional level” released the first TV ads of the race for outgoing Sen. Tom Harkin’s (D-IA) Senate seat on Tuesday.

The ads feature Jacobs discussing his business background as a retired CEO for the Texas-based Reliant Energy and the importance of job creation.

“When Americans are gainfully employed, families do better, revenues to the government increase and our deficits come down,” Jacobs said in the ad. “What we need are more opportunities. American families deserve better, they deserve results.”

Jacobs, one of a number of candidates running in the Republican primary, is spending $138,000 on the ad, according to the Des Moines Register. He is spending that money in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Souix City. The ad is also set to air statewide on cable.
