TAMPA, Fla. — Three different men have at one time been declared Iowa’s preference for Republican presidential nominee in 2012. During the official state roll call vote nominating Mitt Romney here Tuesday afternoon, the leader of the Iowa delegation stood and announced that Ron Paul had won 22 of his state’s 29 delegates.

On caucus night back in January, Romney was declared the winner. A few days later, Rick Santorum was declared the winner. Now, after Paul supporters got their delegates elected at Iowa’s state Republican convention in June, Paul has emerged as the man who truly won the most delegates in the Hawkeye State.
