Popular photo-sharing app Instagram, which counts 30 million users on the iPhone alone (including President Obama), is finally available on Android smartphones, Instagram announced on its blog Tuesday.
The arrival of the app on Android, often equated with hipsters due its vintage photo filters, was long-awaited by users, as Instagram repeatedly stated an Android version was coming since launching exclusively for the iPhone in October 2010. But the small development team chose first to focus on scaling Instagram’s back-end to accomodate an enormous influx of users over the past two years, including celebrities.
So far, the Android app has received a 4.5 star rating out of over 2,000 reviews.
