A poll commissioned by Indiana Democratic Senate Candidate Rep. Joe Donnelly (D-IN) shows longtime Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN) in a tough fight against his Tea Party backed primary opponent, state Treasurer Richard Mourdock (R). The Global Strategy Group (D) polls shows Lugar down to a six point lead, 45 – 39, and blow the 50 mark, a sign of trouble for an incumbent.

“After more than 30 years as Indiana’s Senator, Richard Lugar is fighting for his political life,” pollsters wrote in their analysis. “Despite spending millions, Lugar continues to lose ground in the Republican Primary and faces the very real possibility that on May 8, he will be out of a job.”
