A tsunami warning has been issued for the entire Indian Ocean coast, following a massive 8.7 earthquake off the coast of Indonesia.

There were no immediate reports of deaths or damage from the quake itself. The tremor took place in approximately the same area as the devastating 9.1 quake and tsunami in December 2004, when more than 170,000 were killed in rising waters across the Indian Ocean.

According to Reuters, the quake was felt across the region — from Thailand to southern India.
