During the Sunday morning debate, Jon Huntsman fired back at Mitt Romney for having him attacked him during Saturday night’s debate, over having gone to work for President Obama as the United States Ambassador to China.

Huntsman said that he went to serve his country in an important role, regardless of which party the president belongs to: “Like my two sons in the United States Navy. They’re not asking what party the president is.”

Huntsman’s invocation of his service-member sons elicited applause from the audience. Romney then responded, saying conservatives should not be working to further President Obama’s agenda.

“I think the decision to go work for President Obama was a decision you took,” Romney added. “I don’t disrespect that. I just think that the person who should be representing our party against President Obama is not someone who went to work for President Obama as Ambassador to China.”

Huntsman responded: “The American people are divided, David [Gregory], because of attitudes like that.”
