Between campaign stops in Iowa on Wednesday, Jon Huntsman made remarks to the Boston Herald editorial board that are certain to raise eyebrows.

“We’ve got real issues to talk about, not the latest bimbo eruption,” he said of the most recent Cain drama. If the term “bimbo eruption” seems vaguely familiar, it should; it was used during the 1992 Clinton campaign to describe rumors about Bill Clinton’s alleged extramarital affairs.

Huntsman argued that there were too many other important stories being glossed over due to the Cain drama. “What about a (financial) downgrade that is being anticipated,” he asked. “What about Europe? What about so many other issues out there that we ought to be talking about and that people ought to understand where candidates come down on those issues?”
