How Obama’s Endorsement Of Same-Sex Marriage Took Over Twitter

Twitter’s politics section, Twitter Government, has published the following graph of how quickly the news of Obama’s endorsement of same-sex marriage overtook the social network. 

The conversation “peaked” at 3:22 pm ET with 7,347 tweets per minute.

Twitter also points out that the total 1.6 million tweets about Obama’s endorsement doubled the previous record for “gay-marriage related tweets,” of 859,000 tweets, which occurred back on June 25, 2011 after New York state lawmakers voted to legalize same sex marriage.
