House Republicans have set up a vote Wednesday afternoon to delay the Obamacare individual mandate by one year — a response to the White House’s decision to delay the less important employer mandate by a year.

GOP leaders on Wednesday portrayed the issue as about “fairness,” saying ordinary Americans should get a reprieve if large businesses get one. They first plan to vote to authorize the White House’s delay of the employer mandate, and then immediately vote to delay the individual mandate by a year.

It’ll be the House GOP’s 38th vote to repeal or dismantle Obamacare since 2011.

Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) read from a recent letter by three unions complaining about the impacts of certain parts of Obamacare if they’re not altered.

Democrats, meanwhile, are touting news out of New York that Obamacare is expected to reduce premiums on the individual market by about 50 percent.

The White House has threatened to veto the GOP bills.
