The House Ethics Committee announced on Friday that it was investigating Rep. Silvestre Reyes (D-TX) for allegedly violating unspecified ethics rules. Reyes’ case was referred to the committee by the Committee by the Office of Congressional Ethics on Aug. 30.
Reyes lost his Democratic primary earlier this year. He has been accused by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington of reimbursing over $400,000 to himself and family members over two election cycles. Reyes’ office did not immediately respond to The Hill’s request for comment.
