Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday that Congress needs to act to strengthen the Voting Rights Act in the wake of a Supreme Court decision striking down a key provision protecting minorities across the country.

“We will not hesitate to take swift enforcement action using every tool available to us,” he said at a press conference following the decision. “I am hopeful that new protections can and will pass in this session of Congress.”
