Rep. Rick Berg (R-ND), who picked up his seat in the 2010 Republican wave and is now running for the open U.S. Senate race, has a new TV ad starring the state’s Republican Sen. John Hoeven.

Hoeven is a popular former three-term governor, who also picked up his seat in the 2010 wave, and also in an open race caused by the retirement of an incumbent Democrat. Hoeven had only token Democratic opposition, while in this case Democrats have recruited former state Attorney General Heidi Heitkamp to run against Berg, and they hope to make it a race.

“To get our country back on track, we need Rick Berg in the U.S. Senate,” Hoeven says. “I’ve worked with Rick for over a decade. He is a successful small businessperson, and a legislator. Rick will work to balance our country’s budget, and put America to work. We did it in North Dakota, and we can do it for our country. Rick Berg is the right person for the United States Senate.”
