A hedge fund billionaire and one of the Republican Party’s biggest donors has devoted some of his own financial resources to building support for immigration reform, according to a report published in Politico on Monday.
According to Politico, Paul Singer made a six-figure donation to National Immigration Forum, a group that has sought to sell the bipartisan immigration reform bill to skeptical conservatives.
Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum’s Action Fund, told Politico that Singer represents “probably the first big high-profile Republican to put his name on the line” in the immigration reform effort.
