Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) apologized on Tuesday for what he called “a very poor attempt at humor” when he made a reference to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s “surgeries” while criticizing her response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech.

Graham made the remark during a private fundraiser after Netanyahu’s speech.
“Did you see Nancy Pelosi on the floor. Complete disgust,” Graham said, according to Josh Rogin of Bloomberg News. “If you can get through all the surgeries, there’s disgust.”
Pelosi criticized Netanyahu’s speech on Tuesday and said she was “saddened by the insult to the intelligence of the United States as part of the P5 +1 nations, and saddened by the condescension toward our knowledge of the threat posed by Iran and our broader commitment to preventing nuclear proliferation.”
