Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) has been bragging about his state’s better-than-average job numbers for months even as Mitt Romney’s campaign often seeks to downplay the extent of the nation’s recovery. But Kasich’s office says Romney has never told them to tone the jobs talk down, as a Bloomberg report suggests the Romney campaign did with similarly upbeat Governor Rick Scott (R) in Florida.

“Absolutely not,” Kasich spokesman Robert Nichols told TPM. “To the contrary, Gov. Romney has been very publicly holding up Ohio’s pro-growth policies as a blueprint for the rest of the nation.”

He noted a recent interview this month in which Romney praised Kasich for Ohio’s gains, attributing them to “pro-growth policies and balanced the state budget, that are doing the job that’s creating economic good news in places like Ohio” and adding that “the entire nation deserves the same kind of agenda.”
