Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) on Wednesday had harsh words for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over the security lapses at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
“Madam Secretary, you let the consulate become a death trap,” Duncan said at a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on the deadly attacks on Sept. 11, 2012. “And that’s national security malpractice. You’ve said you take responsibility. What does responsibility mean, Madam Secretary? You’re still in your job. And there are four people at the Department of State that have culpability in this that are still at their jobs.”
Responding to Clinton’s assertion that it doesn’t make a difference, at this point, whether the attack was spawned from a spontaneous protest or was coordinated, Duncan said “it makes a difference when Americans think they were misled about something for political reasons.”
