Republican pollster Whit Ayres, named in a New York Times report of a plan devised by a billionire donor and GOP strategists to orchestrate an attack ad based on President Obama’s past connections to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, denied to TPM that he was involved in formulating the plan.

“I will say that the NYT assertion that I was involved in preparing the proposal is flat wrong, and neither reporter called to verify that before printing it,” Ayres wrote in an email.
