The RNC calls President Obama’s latest trade enforcement action filed today against China an “election year crackdown” in a new web video released Thursday afternoon. Earlier Thursday, Obama announced in Ohio that the administration had filed the action with the World Trade Organization over extra duties China has imposed on American auto imports.

The RNC video claims that Obama has failed to stand up to China, and “election-year speeches can’t hide four years of failed policies.”

White House press secretary Jay Carney defended the president’s record on China in his remarks to the press on Thursday: “This is the seventh such action that this administration has taken against China — seventh.  The previous six have all been successful.  The pace of actions taken by this administration is double that of the previous administration — actions against China for unfair trade practices.”
