Google Launches Gmail For iOS 2.0

After a fumbling first start in November 2011, Google on Tuesday launched a new version of its official Gmail app for iOS (Apple mobile devices, namely the iPhone and iPad). And unlike the initial reviews of its predecessor, Gmail for iOS 2.0 appears to be a huge hit, adding such features as support for multiple simultaneous account log-ins (up to 5), which was previously available on the Web but not for iOS users, RSVPing to Google Calendar invitations from directly within the app, and autocomplete search suggestions. 

Though some have speculated that Google’s acquisition in July of beloved Apple Gmail client company Sparrow is behind the changes, reliable source M.G. Siegler reported this was not the case. The new Gmail for iOS 2.0 is still rolling out to all App Store users, though, so it may take more time to become available in certain areas, as Google’s official Gmail account tweeted
