Google on Tuesday announced it was awarding a total $23 million in grants to seven different nonprofit tech organizations and projects as part of its new Global Impact Awards. Among the awards issued was $1.2 million for the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, a foundation started by the actress dedicating to analyzing gender, and specifically portrayals of women characters, in popular media.
