Google’s location-based information app for Android “Field Trip,” has added new content partners over the past week, including the Detroit, Michigan blogs Historic Detroit and Detroit Moxie and global travel blog the Cultureist, which was the first Field Trip partner added by user suggestion

Field Trip gives Android users automatic alerts containing information about their immediate surrounds, from local businesses to historical sites to popular attractions. It was the first product of a skunkworks team within Google called Niantic Labs, which is dedicated to pursuing location-based “ubiquitous computing,” that is, connectivity and relevant information pushed effortlessly to users, anticipating their needs and likes.
