Google on Tuesday morning confirmed that due to an “issue,” its popular free email service Gmail was temporarily inaccessible for “less than 0.11 percent” of the total userbase. That would equal about 400,000 people (out of 350 million users previously reported).

The outage is the second major disruption of Gmail service in as many months, with an April outage affecting up to to 1.4 percent of Gmail users, or some 4.9 million users. That outage was caused by “a misconfiguration that occurred during a routine capacity upgrade,” which  “prevented changes to existing customer data for upgraded users,” according to a Google report.

Google has not yet specified the cause of the new outage.

Corrections: This post’s math was originally off, indicating that the 0.11 percent of Gmail users was equal to 4 million, when in fact, out of 350 million users, it would be just 400,000. This post also originally stated that the April outage affected 10 percent of Gmail’s users. While Google originally reported this number, it later updated its figures to say that outage only affected 10 percent of users. We apologize for the errors.
